Polyethylene

Polyethylene is a low-cost thermoplastic polymer used in a variety of applications.  Echo Engineering specializes in catalog and custom LDPE & HDPE products used mainly by automotive and fluid power manufacturers for shipping protection applications.

LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene)

LDPE is made of ethylene from petroleum. It’s flexible, low cost, and generally easy to mold.….

Temperature Range: -70F to 158F

Recommended Uses: Threaded and non-threaded caps and plugs, containers, and packaging film

Advantages: Excellent impact resistance and chemical resistance, remains flexible

Limitations: Poor temperature range and strength. Limited molding precision.

Plastic Class: Thermoplastic (generally recyclable)

HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)

HDPE is also made of ethylene from petroleum. The difference is that it’s significantly stronger and less flexible than LDPE

Temperature Range: -70F to 230F

Recommended Uses: Threaded and non-threaded caps and plugs, containers, bottle caps, hard hats, piping

Advantages: Excellent impact resistance and chemical resistance

Limitations: Limited temperature range, flex fatigue resistance, and strength. Limited molding precision.

Plastic Class: Thermoplastic (generally recyclable)
