Silicone
Silicone rubber is a unique elastomer that is generally stable and resistant to extreme environments and temperatures, while still maintaining its useful properties. It is the most common material used by high volume powder coaters and e-coaters for masking off surfaces that need to be clear of coating because of its excellent temperature resistance and sealing abilities.
Temperature Resistance: -150F - 600F (Formulated)
Recommended Uses: Masking during Powder Coating, E-Coating, Plating, & Anodizing
Advantages: Extreme temperature resistance, good compression set resistances, clean, low odor, and taste influence. Specialty formulations available (i.e., high tear strength, thermally conductive, electrically conductive)
Limitations: Poor automotive fluid resistance, chemical resistance, friction properties, and abrasion resistance
Hardness Range (shore A): 20 to 80
